Masa & Bloom:
A Hands‑On Culinary
Workshop + Garden Lunch
Led by artist and cook April Valencia, founder of Masa Memory — the Mexican food project known for its flower‑pressed tortillas and collaborations across Los Angeles. Rooted in heirloom maíz grown in Oaxaca, Masa Memory celebrates tradition, craft and the sensory beauty of maíz through intimate workshops and shared tables.
Join us for a three‑hour, hands‑on workshop exploring heirloom maíz, masa and edible flowers, followed by a seasonal garden lunch featuring the tortillas we make together.
Workshop Includes
Flower lemonade with seasonal herbs + chips & salsa on arrival
The journey of maíz to masa: soaking, nixtamalization, washing and grinding
Mixing and preparing vegetable‑dyed masa harina
Hand‑pressing tortillas and cooking them on the comal
Creating flower tortillas with edible blooms from Corazón’s garden and a local organic farm
Garden Lunch: a shared, seasonal lunch enjoyed in the Farm Garden with the tortillas made during the workshop.
